Digital Video Tips

• These are mostly notes to myself on problems I've had and the answers I found.

   

  • How to copy a DVD-R to a DVD+R -
    
    Software based copy processes can be frustrating. Depending on the software
    you are using there is a workaround. I recommend Nero Burning ROM. Use the
    main program and forget those little Express interfaces. They
    are unreliable.

    On the recorded source disc you will find the Video_TS folder and another
    Video_? folder. On some recorded discs this is the Video_RM folder. Create a
    folder on your hard drive called "Duplications" and manually copy the
    Video_XX folders to that folder. In Nero Burning ROM choose the DVD option
    of DVD Video. Once inside the project copy the contents of the Video_TS
    folder copied to your hard drive to the Video_TS folder in the project. Then
    add that other Video_? folder to the disc proper (root of the disc). You
    would then see the XXX_TS folders and this Video_? folder.

    
    Choose the burn button and you will get a playable disc on either + or -
    disc, whichever you choose to burn to.
